mountain bike coaching
Coach Johnston specializes in coaching for off-road cyclist.  Andy works with all levels of athlete from pros down, and also has expanded into the ultra-distance athletes.  His work with junior cyclist has generated great results. Instruction goes beyond just workouts; he incorporates all aspects of the cyclist life into his method.
Your first lesson will be how to pedal a bike, then you progress into specific skills, nutritional and workout lessons which will expand your cycling horizons.
Skills are hands on lessons, while the workouts are posted using an online software that emails you each day with your workout.  You, as the athlete, are able to use the software to upload you workouts and comments to the coach.
It is best to start with a coach in the off-season preceding the next season, but athletes can be brought on anytime.
Planning begins in the off-season by determining goals, race priorities and scheduling weekly hours.  The training will be customized to your specific needs and abilities.  The ultimate goal is to maximize your abilities as a cyclist and get the results you want.
Coach Andy is also for single day clinics, instruction or other.

Coaching News

12 Hours of Tsali - 5-23-08
MTBAndy coached youth team sweeeps Tsali race. This is the 3rd consectutive year our team has won the open money team at this event, but this year Andy coached from the sidelines as his racers did the pedaling.  This is the first all-teenager team to take a win like this.
Cory broke his collar bone prior to the event but managed to get well enough to race.
The battle with the 2nd place team was epic as both teams changed their rotation to out-psyche the other and make gains where needed. In the end our team pulled ahead enough to keep a lead through the 4-man rotation and we knew the math would work in our favor assuming no problems occured with the bikes out on the trail.
Congradulations to team Kenda/mtbAndy.com riders Seth Kemp, Cory Rimmer, Wes Lamberson and Jesus Martinez.

Female 12 Hours of Tsali
Racer Anet Lamberson, coached athlete, took her first solo win here at Tsali.  Racing the full 12 hours as a solo rider Anet had the best race of her career.  While it was enough to beat all the other female racers, Anet pushed more and took 5th overall beating all but 4 of the men competitors.

Germany training camp
Riders Wes Lamberson and Seth Kemp are heading to Germany May 27th for a three week training camp with USACycling. This camp is an invitation only event where young riders get their first taste of international competition.
MTBAndy.com is proud to have helped them achieve such status and to continue to further their racing careers.
